Dr. Simon King B.App.Sc.(Chiro), DIBAK
Chiropractor and Consultant Kinesiologist
The Naturality Wellness Centre is run by Dr. Simon King, a fully qualified practitioner of both Chiropractic and Applied Kinesiology.
Dr. King has been practising for 20 years, has treated over 10,000 patients, and is the only chiropractor in England qualified to teach Applied Kinesiology. Well recognised as an authority in his profession, he has served on the Board of Standards and the Research Committee of the International College of Applied Kinesiology.
Dr. King has achieved impressive results with a system of treatment that combines his 20 years of knowledge into an approach called 'proprioceptive medicine'. He has already trained some 200 chiropractors to use his new system, and has transformed the lives of hundreds of patients.
Chiropractic is an important part of treatment here at the Naturality Wellness Centre. This is because many problems stem from inhibited muscles, which in turn cause joints to become less and less mobile. Chiropractic is a system of manipulation, mobilisation and exercise to help restore normal movement to restricted joints.
With twenty years of experience, Dr. King's expertise is often sought by chiropractors and their patients from all over the country. He acts as a consultant for many practitioners, helping them to diagnose the underlying issues with those impossible or difficult-to-treat cases.
Chiropractic and osteopathic manipulation are the quickest, easiest and least painful methods of restoring joint motion. In skilled hands, manipulation is never painful and is extremely safe. There is usually a slight clicking or popping noise as the manipulation is delivered.
Exercise is an important part of any healthcare strategy and can help support the treatment parts of your programme. Before you start exercising, remember to check with your chiropractor first, since exercising inhibited muscles is a surefire way to suffer pain and injury ailing with increased wear and tear.
Massage involves the application of touch, pressure and stroking to the muscles, tissues or skin. It encourages relaxation of the muscles and of the spirit.
Movement training like Alexander, Feldenkrais, Pilates and Yoga can all help to maintain normal joint motion and muscle tone after the underlying problems have been corrected. Surprisingly, posture is not normally the result of bad habits or laziness. Although conscious effort can make a temporary change to posture, only by removing muscle inhibition through proprioceptive medicine is it easy to make lasting change.
While all of the physical therapies have a place in treatment, their results will be limited if the practitioner is unable to find the underlying cause of muscle inhibition. Here at Naturality, we have developed a systematic approach to pinpointing the root cause of muscle inhibition ...

Frequently asked questions
Who are you?
Simon King is a Chiropractor and consultant Applied Kinesiologist. He is the founder of the Institute of Proprioceptive Medicine.
Chiropractors are specialists in musculoskeletal medicine, who study for 5 years full-time at a university.
Applied Kinesiology is a chiropractic specialty developed in the 1960s.
Proprioceptive Medicine combines the accumulated knowledge of chiropractic, osteopathy, physiotherapy, sports medicine and physical therapy into a common understanding of human function based on proprioception.
Proprioception is the name given to everything the brain feels from the skin, muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons.
We use proprioception to generate muscle tone.
Is this a chiropractic clinic?
Yes and no. We still do chiropractic but we find it too limiting for most people. Manipulation often brings speedy relief from pain – but only when joints are fixated or stuck. There are many things that cause fixated joints, and many pains are not caused by joint fixation. Proprioceptive medicine gives us the diagnostic tools we need to decide when to use manipulation and when another approach would be more appropriate.
Why do you test muscles?
Two reasons:
- Normal muscle tone protects bones, joints, tendons ligaments, and the muscles themselves from excessive strain and damage. With poor muscle tone, even normal activity can lead to injury, pain and inflammation. Although the pain may subside with rest and treatment, such injuries tend to become chronic or recurrent, and may lead to arthritis if the cause of the weakness is not corrected.
- Muscle weakness indicates a failure of normal proprioception. For normal proprioception to fail, there must be either too much input into the brain or too little. Too much input might come from foreign bodies like a gold crown on a tooth or a stud through the navel; too little could come from a joint fixation or a lack of exercise. For optimal function and great health, it is essential that proprioception works without interference.
Muscles hold the key to great health. Poor muscle tone causes poor posture, most musculoskeletal injury and many types of pain. It has also been implicated in chronic fatigue, tiredness, weight gain, digestive problems, IBS, osteoporosis, arthritis, allergies, headaches and high blood pressure.

That depends on what you mean by success. Our mission is to help everyone be totally pain-free, full of energy and immune from injury forever. What is your mission? If you are committed to reaching this goal and are willing to do what it takes, our success rate is virtually 100%. Most people will be 80% better in 6 to 12 visits, but it takes effort and time to get the extra 20%.
