Psychosynthesis Counselling

Karen Pullin

What is Psychosynthesis?

Psychosynthesis is a style of counselling that seeks to bring you to a certain level of self-knowledge so that you can make sense of the constant conflicts in your impulses, desires, principles and aspirations. This will give you the ability to enjoy good relationships with others, to have good health, and to make free and conscious decisions. Psychosynthesis, in over 70 years of research and verification, has developed simple and effective tools which can help us to approach our objectives, by understanding the factors which prevent us from reaching them.

Psychosynthesis is a unified concept of human development and an organised system of techniques which can be applied in the fields of therapy. It is concerned with the realisation of individual potential, and at the same time, to avoid unbalanced growth, with harmonisation of all elements of the personality. Among the methods used are: creative visualisation; free drawing; the training of the will; writing; disidentification; exploration of dreams; and meditation.

Psychosynthesis can help you with stress and anxiety, anger management, relationship difficulties, and questions of who am I? Where am I going? What is the point?

Person-centred Counselling and Psychotherapy

Moira Bishop

What is Counselling?

Counselling is an opportunity to have some special time for yourself. It gives you time to talk about whatever your concerns are, in a safe, confidential space with an experienced professional who will hear and understand you without judging you. You will have the opportunity to reflect on your life, to look at the present and the past, if you wish to do so, to work through difficult issues, and to make changes so that you can live life more fully.

Counselling can help you with many issues, including: relationships; depression; abuse; bereavement and loss; gender and sexuality; spirituality; life changes and transitions; stress and anxiety; problem drinking; pressures at work; or just at times when all is not right with your world.

I am a person-centred counsellor/psychotherapist and have been in practice since 1992. I work to the Ethical Framework of the BACP, The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and, as with all counsellors, I receive supervision to ensure my work is ethical. You can visit the BACP website for more information about counselling ethics.

The counselling sessions are confidential, but there are limitations to that confidentiality. If you were to tell me something that meant that you or another person was in danger of serious harm then I might have to disclose this. I will clarify the details of this limitation to confidentiality with you at your initial session.

Telephone: 07799350160.

Real change is possible

Individual psychotherapy involves meeting regularly with a therapist to try to make sense of current psychological or relationship difficulties. The psychotherapist offers a secure and confidential relationship in which current problems and unhappiness can be explored, in the context of ones whole life experience.

A deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships offers people more insight into the nature of their unhappiness. Understanding and insight are precursors to growth, and offer the chance for reappraisal of and change to unfulfilling life choices and patterns.

The relationship which the client has with the psychotherapist is the channel for this change, which can then be seen to occur in other significant relationships. A client's experience in psychotherapy can lead to a greater self awareness and healthier, more authentic functioning of relationships, which, freed of previous limitations, become themselves better places to learn and grow.

People seek psychotherapeutic help for many different reasons. They may be concerned about a particular problem, or distressed by certain life events, or they may require help to cope with and to understand feelings of anger, fear or depression. Quite often people do not know what is wrong, but know that something is.

I am a fully qualified and accredited practitioner with nineteen years experience of helping people. I have qualifications in both counselling and psychotherapy.

I take my work and my client's welfare very seriously. I am committed to providing treatment which is safe, supportive and which offers people the opportunity of real and lasting change.

Telephone: 07722135202.
